Joining the PVA
There are various categories of membership. However if you are joining as a UK veterinary surgeon, or as a UK RVN, this will depend upon the provision of your RCVS registration number.
Overseas veterinary surgeons or veterinary nurses who are not members of the RCVS must provide equivalent evidence. Students must provide evidence of their course enrolment for entitlement to free membership. Associate membership for laypersons is subject to checks on identity and/or bank details. Discounts according to economic circumstances, for example for membership applications from the developing world, are solely at the discretion of officers of the PVA.
You can join us by paying the membership fees specified below. The membership fee must be paid either on a monthly or annual basis via our payment service provider. The membership fee is currently free of VAT.

Note: Whilst this does not affect the type of membership, the ‘Founder member’ fee includes an additional financial contribution to assist with the establishment of the PVA in the first year only.
Associate membership is for supporters of the PVA, including allied professionals and lay members. The minimum fee is £10, although we welcome further donations of financial support. Associate members receive regular electronic bulletins about our progress and campaigns.

Further information
Your membership will run for 12 months from the date on which we notify you that your membership is accepted. You may renew your membership for a further 12 months, and we will send you a renewal notice to let you know when your membership is due to expire.
We will send you an email confirming receipt of the membership fee as soon as the payment has been authorised.
You may terminate your membership at any time, for any reason. To terminate your membership, please email us at membership@pva.vet No refunds of any subscription fee already paid will be given.
The PVA reserves the right to cancel membership at any time and for any reason, as determined by officers of the PVA. The practice or promotion of animal abuse is not compatible with PVA membership; should such concerns emerge in relation to a member, officers of the PVA will be charged with collating evidence, including testimony from the specific member, and canvassing opinion among the wider members, before arriving at a decision on whether to cancel or suspend the individual’s membership.
